Cuba has an influence on culture and world events that is totally disporportionate to its size. Yet the island nation has been off-limits to most Americans for two generations. As one of a small group of students selected for the semester-long Sarah Lawrence program, you will learn firsthand how and why that culture has shaped—and reshaped—not only the regional but the international landscape. You will be immersed in the language and in the customs in ways that are meant to deepen your understanding and appreciation of a society very different from our own. Each student in the Cuba program takes four courses for credit. Course work includes Spanish at an advanced level, one core seminar on Cuban society and development, and electives in the humanities, social sciences, and the arts
