This spring semester program focuses on understanding and effectively addressing human development in sub-Saharan African contexts. An integral component of the program is learning how to understand, implement, and evaluate effective community-based work in each location studied. With a focus on Southern and Eastern Africa, students will spend five weeks in each of the following locations: - Rural Tanzania (Kitongo, near Mwanza) - Urban Malawi (Blantyre) - Rural Zimbabwe (the Matobo Hills region, near Bulawayo) In addition to coursework in psychology and history, all students will spend 15-20 hours a week performing fieldwork in local community-based organizations.
