Application Checklist for Direct Exchange

Direct Exchange Programs

                                                                        Application Process

Log in to your account on the Lang Study Abroad website to access applications and all documents mentioned in this checklist.   

*If you have not yet created an account, please select “Create Account” from the left hand menu*

 Complete online application including personal essay, relevant experience, and faculty references (individual requirements are indicated on each application).

 Upload copy of financial aid award letter, which may be printed from MyNewSchool. Meet with a counselor in Student Financial Services to discuss financing options, if necessary, and plan for payment once admitted.

 Upload an unofficial transcript which may be printed from MyNewSchool.

Pre-Departure

Once admitted, complete reply form to accept offer.

Complete housing selection process (your program provider or host university should contact you regarding housing procedures once admitted).

Purchase plane ticket (for tips on finding the best airfare, see this Discount Travel Options for Students flyer).

 Confirm entry requirements to your host country and apply for a visa if required.  

*Note for all programs passport must be valid for 6 months AFTER schedule return date*

 Discuss course selection with an Academic Advisor. To ensure specific courses abroad may be applied toward your Major, contact the Department Chair.

 Submit course selection for semester abroad to your Host University.

 Follow-up with Study Abroad Adivsor to ensure you have been registered for mobility credits.

Don’t forget to inform your parents/guardians about your travel plans and itinerary. 

After your return, please share your experiences with the Study Abroad office and your fellow students!
