Application Checklist for Short-term Programs

Short-Term Programs

Application Process

Log in to your account on the Lang Study Abroad website to access applications and all documents mentioned in this checklist.  

*If you have not yet created an account, please select “Create Account” from the left hand menu*   

Complete online application including personal essay, relevant experience, and faculty references.

Upload copy of financial aid award letter, which may be printed from MyNewSchool.  Meet with a counselor in Student Financial Services to discuss financing options, if necessary, and plan for payment once admitted. 

Upload an unofficial transcript which may be printed from MyNewSchool.

If invited, complete interview process.

Pre-Departure

Confirm participation in the program with the Study Abroad Advisors.  

Confirm entry requirements and apply for visa if required. 

*Note for all programs, passport must be valid for 6 months after scheduled return date*

Purchase plane ticket (for tips on finding the best airfare, see this Discount Travel Options for Students flyer).

Complete all travel forms: Study Abroad Policies; Waiver and Release; Travel Code of Conduct; Medical Insurance & Emergency Contact; and Flight Information form. In addition, remember to upload copies of your flight itinerary, photo ID page of your passport, and health insurance ID card.

Register for the course through MyNewSchool.

Submit payment in full by deadline.

Attend pre-departure meeting.

Don’t forget to inform your parents/guardians about your study abroad plans and itinerary.  

After your return, please share your experiences with the Study Abroad office and your fellow students!
